It’s so nice to meet you!
My name is Katie and I’m the one behind the camera! I’m a full-time scenic artist by day (painting sets for theater), and a goon in everything else by night. I love dogs, dancing, anything competitive, peanut butter, and did I mention dogs?
Keepsakes by Katie originally started nameless; a passion project to film a home movie style semi-cross-country road trip with friends back in 2017. I found myself most interested in filming my friends as they were - driving mindlessly through the corn fields of Illinois, getting locked out of the car for the third time in 48 hours, running around like kids in all the interactive museums; besides all the beautiful cities and rural landscapes we passed, these were the moments I wanted to remember.
After that trip, I wanted to keep things going. I wanted to provide others with a means of documenting their most precious moments. I wanted to tell a story. Anyone’s story.
I found myself drawn to weddings. It could’ve been because I was in my early 20s and was attending upwards of 6+ weddings a year as a guest. I started offering to film family and friends’ weddings as a way to practice this sort of story telling and in turn, create a tangible gift of memories for these couples I love. Once I started, I was hooked. Love is contagious and it’s hard not to notice the unrelenting joy a wedding day brings.

My approach
I have a passion for capturing the candid moments of life. Think elevated home videos with a documentary-style approach!
My style is observational so I can catch all the moments you might miss while you’re preparing for your big day! From those little winks across the room, to the “i-Do’s”, to grandma breaking it down on the dance floor - I will be your fly on the wall.
